In hospitals, sheets and bedding are mostly reused. Many hospitals have their own laundry rooms, and some choose the form of washing outsourcing. However, no matter which kind, patients' clothes and bedding will be recycled in different departments. After disinfection according to different standards, they will go through the equal procedures of high-temperature washing, sterilization, drying and ironing, and finally be transferred back to the original department. The reason for recycling by departments is to avoid cross infection. Disinfection is usually carried out with disinfectant or high temperature disinfection. The hospital should pay special attention to the isolation of pollution sources and the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. It is necessary not only to disinfect the articles for patients, but also to disinfect the clothes of all medical staff according to the process.
But in reality, there are also some hospitals, due to the lack of strict implementation of the operation process or poor management, resulting in many problems. For example, here is a shocking news:
In addition, due to the irregular operation of some outsourced washing plants, there will be a great potential safety hazard, even the use of industrial detergent, which is extremely harmful to patients. There are also some hospitals in the process of disinfection without division of departments, which is not conducive to isolation of infectious sources and control of disease transmission.
There are still strict requirements for the treatment of bed sheets, bedding, clothes, etc. in the hospital, the requirements for surgical equipment, clothing, sheets are even higher, so the hospital generally has its own disinfection supply center for supporting work. Disinfection supply center is the core Department of prevention and control of nosocomial infection, which is called hospital liver. So what are the requirements for the construction of disinfection supply center in the hospital?
site selection
The new edition of management specification for hospital disinfection and supply center clearly points out that: the disinfection and supply center shall adopt the centralized management mode, and all medical devices, appliances and articles that need to be sterilized or reused after fire bacteria are recovered, cleaned, disinfected, sterilized and supplied by the disinfection and supply center.
At present, there are two understandings of this provision:
❶ hospital can only have one disinfection supply center, that is, Centralized Disinfection Supply Center, which bears all disinfection supply work of the whole hospital. This method is mostly used in medium and large hospitals with 1500 beds and an average daily operation volume of no more than 100. Its advantages are unified management, easy quality control and reasonable investment concentration; its disadvantages are not strong timeliness, high requirements for comprehensive skills of employees and heavy management projects.
❷ the hospital can have more than one disinfection supply room, i.e. decentralized disinfection supply room. This form mostly appears in super large hospitals, and its advantages are accurate quality control, strong timeliness, professional operation and accurate cost accounting. The disadvantages are high requirements for management mode and level, scattered investment and occupying more department area. In particular, a scientific and reasonable location selection will make the work of disinfection supply center more reasonable, smoother, safer and timely.
Scale and area
The actual area required for the construction of disinfection supply center should first conform to the characteristics of the medical institution, and comprehensively consider the regional development and the specific situation of the hospital, such as the nature of the hospital, the setting of departments, the actual number of patients, the volume of surgery, the volume of outpatient service and other factors. It should not only ensure the normal work of the hospital in an orderly manner, but also meet the basic use needs of the equipment and personnel to the greatest extent.
